Everyone in tech has opinions. This is not a hot take or a catch but an obvious observation. Just ask yourself the following questions: Why does it seem like everyone thinks their technology is superior to whatever everyone else is using? Why are backend developers joking about frontends? Why are frontend developers making fun of that other Javascript framework the other people are using? Or why does it seem like everyone jokes about Javascript?
It seems that we are all stuck in our little tiny bubble of stuff we work with and we don’t take our heads out of the bubble to look at the big picture? This phenomenon is happening in organisations and teams around the world. The theme of this talk is how small isolated technology decisions within teams and organizations which seems reasonable to some lead to poor experience to everyone involved. The goal here is via storytelling to invite everyone to sometimes look at the forest instead of fixating on the trees.
